. napa35, san francisco 46, san jose 37 degrees. definitely off to a cold start this saturday morning. forecast headlines for today, shower developing, it'll be chilly. tomorrow just a chance of a few sprinkles and the highest chance would be in the north bay, especially up toward sonoma. we are tracking multiple storms on the long range weather maps. at least for today here is the system we are tracking, the sources rainfall around eureka. already cloud cover into the area and that rainfall not to far behind. here is the forecast model. we will take it into the morning about an hour from now at eight mostly cloudy and cool. temperatures from around 30 to 45 and then by the afternoon, by 12:00 showers developing especially up in the northern half of the area. you will see more activity off shore and then throughout the afternoon hours off and on showers likely and temperatures only making it into the low to mid50s. these numbers not a big change from yesterday in places like fairfield and antioch. most of the afternoon in the upper 40s. briefly topping out at 50. san jose 54, san mate
you can see san francisco police are in the process of shutting down essex street. now the water has been shut off and we showed you that in the last half hour but there is a new problem. if we pan over here, take a look at the construction site. you can see the scaffolding is compromised with some of the metal beams going down. the firefighter said he is not sure if that is stable or if that structure is compromised so if they can get the construction guys out here to make sure that it's not about to fall, they have shut down this street and they don't know when it will reopen. let me show you video from when all of this happened because there was quite a mess out here. it was shotting an estimated 30 feet in the air and 50,000 gallons came out before they were able to shut it off. again it started with a driver running through a red light and that's what police are telling ktvu channel 2 morning news. it started when this driver tried to turn on to essex and folsom and crashed into that fire hydrant. we don't know the extent of his injuries but we have video of the driver sitting o

in california are awaiting the supreme court decision that could come today. annanne makovec is in san francisco and she joins us with more. >> reporter: even by not making a decision, the supreme court is essentially making a decision ask a lot of people here and waiting to find out what's going to happen today. the u.s. supreme court is scheduled to review whether or not it will review the constitutionality of prop 8. that is the ban on same sex marriage. the pro prop 8 side is appealing, the 9th u.s. circuit court of appeals which found the ban unconstitutional. it's one of several cases across the country concerning the federal defensive marriage act. >> the court has been waiting to gather all 10 of cases together and they're going to make a decision, either grant a review in some of them, all of them, none of them. they could do anything. >> reporter: if they decide not to review the case, same sex weddings could resume as soon as the 9th circuit says osteo. says -- so. we don't know how long that is going to take. they have no deadline for acting on these cases but this is their last conf

problems all over the bay area. in san francisco yesterday, take a look at this. a tree toppled onto a mercedes along pine street in lower pacific heights. nobody was hurt but the mess shut down a major cross town oortd for a short time. fallen trees get utility crew busy in marin county, as well. flooding submerged part of shoreline highway and high winds knocked down a tent at a christmas lot near mill valley. scenes like this kept oakland public works crews busy. one official said when you see flooding like this you can blame leaves or litter clogging up storm drains. >> a spinout in antioch damaged three cars and a child and an adult to the hospital. it happened on highway 4. the chp can't confirm initial reports that the child was ejected from the car, but we do know the three-year-old boy was airlifted to the children's hospital in oakland. adult was taken to a hospital in brentwood. >> other news, san francisco elementary school is working to try to stop the spread of a gastro enter its out break. ama daetz tells us what is being done about it. >> a letter was given to the stu
